Tridacna crocea also known as the small giant clam, shows a vibrant mantle that can display a range of hues like blue, green, and purples and can reach up to 20cm in length. T. crocea is a species of giant clam native to the Indo-Pacific region. It typically inhabits shallow coral reefs, where it buries itself in the substrate and forms a symbiotic relationship with photosynthetic algae called zooxanthellae. These algae provide the clam with energy through photosynthesis, while the clam offers a safe habitat. T. crocea is one of the smaller species of giant clams. Invertebrates do not tolerate copper medications.
